Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who has drawn keen attention from Korea and around the world with the Netflix series "Squid Game," drew attention as he reported the news of his next film.
According to the U.S. entertainment media Variety on April 4 (local time), Hwang said at an international video content fair "Mip TV" in Cannes, France, that he was preparing for the "Killing Old Men Club" as his next work to succeed the squid game.
Hwang noted that he was inspired by the work of Italian philosopher Humberto Echo, announcing that he had already worked on a 25-page script.
"The Killing Old People Club is more violent than the Squid Game," he said, adding to the curiosity about his next film.
The project is said to be called the 'K.O. Club,' and is part of Umberto Echo's essay 'How to Pretend to Understand the Crazy World.'It can be predicted by the story of 'O Club'.The article contains the imagination that in a society where the burden of supporting the elderly has intensified, young people try to get rid of the elderly, and the elderly who protested begin to hide, and hunt for the elderly begins.Director Hwang Dong-hyuk is expected to continue working on the scenario with the inspiration of the article.
